I Have Had A On Going Sore Throat That Comes

I have had a on going sore throat that comes and goes my neck is even tender on both sides from the tenderness of my throat. I feel warm but no fever. I think allergies but I have been taking Zyrtec for over a year. Hurts to swallow but with it coming and going I don't believe it's strep. Any thoughts as I don't have time to see a doctor with my schedule.
