I Have Had A Viral Throat Infection. It Started Almost

I have had a viral throat infection. It started almost three weeks ago. It starter to feel better but now it is back on just my left side. It is painful to swallow. I have also had an earache on an off. I have been to the walk in clinic three time already and they checked everything and keep telling me that it's viral and has to run it's course. No fever and I still have my appetite. What can I do to stop feeling the pain in my left side of my throat?
