I Have Had Discomfort In My Upper Abdomen , Base

I have had discomfort in my upper abdomen , base of stertum and back pain for a while now. My doctor sent me for an ultrasound and a liver cyst wa as found. From what I understand unless cysts are smaller than 3 cm they do not cause symptoms. What else could be wrong?
