I Have Had Heartburn That Has Steadily Gotten Worse For

I have had heartburn that has steadily gotten worse for a few years now. It is really almost all the time now. Just general housework will get it bothering me a lot. About 5 weeks ago I got a cold and had a dry unproductive cough with it but the cold had been gone a couple weeks now and the cough remains. I’m wondering if the heartburn and the cough could be connected. I also have an occasional mild pain on the upper right side of my back occasionally.
