I Have Had Heavy Mucus For Several Weeks Now And

I have had heavy mucus for several weeks now and cannot seem to get rid of it. I have taken over the counter meds to thin the mucus but it is still in the back of my throat. I also blow it out of my nose when possible but this is not always productive. Do I need to go to my doctor or is there something else I can do?
