I Have Had Major Re-constructive Surgery On My Left Knee

I have had major re-constructive surgery on my left knee (in 1994, 2 screws put into knee). Presently, I have pain and instability in my upper left shin/patella area (outside of shin area). I am looking to have a hip replacement in my left hip in the spring (2017). I have already consulted a specialist concerning the hip operation. It can be done at any time, provided that I can withstand the pain (which I am doing ...). Hip condition - bone on bone, no cartilage. Initially I thought that I had a hernia, but that was ruled out. Hip condition is affecting my gait, and both legs. Question: I know the hip is impacting everything on my left side, but I am wondering if I would have a separate condition/injury solely concerning the shin. I'm an 57 yr. old male, 6 ft. 250 lbs., otherwise good health. Past athletic history. I would appreciate any specific information concerning the upper shin/patella area. Thank you!
