I Have Had One Swollen Tonsil For 7 Years. It

I have had one swollen tonsil for 7 years. It started when I had Mono and has never shrunk back down. I daw an ENT today who suggested having it removed as standard procedure beause it could be cancerous? He also said I could have a CT or watch it. I chose the CT option, but now and concerned I made the wrong choice. As far as I can tell it has not changed in size / color.

Other info that may be relevant: I have GERD and seem to have some inner ear issue (balance is off after elevator rides...etc)
