I Have Had Pain In My Left Shoulder For About

I have had pain in my left shoulder for about 3 weeks...I am now having a problem with my left hand..it is hard to grip a medicine cap, etc...When I put my thumb to my ring finger, and try to touch the two tips together, it is painful..any suggestions as to what it might be?
