I Have Had Post-herpetic Neuralgia Since My Shingles Cleared Up

I have had post-herpetic neuralgia since my Shingles cleared up last November, 2014. It seems to "flare" up periodically -- like now -- and I wonder if it will go away, or if there is anything I can do to mitigate the symptoms? The pain is an odd one to describe -- deep, burning, itching, aching kind of thing.
