I Have Had Several Gout Flare Ups Over The Past

I have had several gout flare ups over the past five years since the initial onset. Usually my right big toe gets red and swollen making it painful to walk. This lasts about a week or so. This time, however, in addition to my inflamed big toe, the skin on the top of my foot feels swollen and itchy. It isn't red or painful but has been going on for several weeks now. Are these symptoms of gout or should I be looking for other causes?
