I Have Had Shingles For About Three Weeks Now. Not

I have had shingles for about three weeks now. Not realizing it was shingles, I did not start the anti viral medication until about five days after the initial breakout. Is it any help taking the medication now since I started late? Also, about how long should I expect this to continue. I am still getting a few new bumps?
