I Have Had Varying Intensity Of Ankle Pain Since I

I have had varying intensity of ankle pain since I was a child (I am now 20) when doing physical activity. My lower leg would be in pain from walking for a certain amount of time, walking on an incline, running, swimming, etc. The pain used to be only in my ankle but gradually made its way to my calves starting 4 or 5 years ago. The pain will normally feel like an ache and burn along the outer sides of my calves. It would increase in intensity with every step I make. to the point where I start limping or discontinue the physical activity. I went to a doctor recently for this and he informed me after a physical evaluation that my ankles were dislocated for about 8/9+ years now. I was wondering how likely this is, and why would it be causing pain in my calves? Also if this is true, would it have caused a discrepancy in my bone growth? Would I have suffered any permanent damage? I would like to know the severity of having my ankles dislocated for this long. Thank you.
