I Have History Of PE After Taking Birth Control For

I have history of PE after taking birth control for one year (back in 2000) and was told I could not take any hormone replacement during pre menopause or menopause. My doctor now is saying I can take progesterone just not estrogen. Is this safe or am I at risk for a blood clot again?
