I Have Just Been Diagnosed With Diabetes At Age 62.

I have just been diagnosed with Diabetes at age 62. My doctor has been monitoring for approx 1 or so years. Now, I am on medication! BUT, my skin is driving me insane with itch. I am literally ripping my skin off! I try not to and I have tried so many different creams...all scent free, allergy tested etc etc. Is there a picture of this skin condition? Is this for real? There may be NOTHING on my skin and then the itch sets in and I just cant stop scratching until it becomes a sore. THEN it becomes some form of thick "dog elbow" patch! What a mess! I need guidance of where to look or who to see. It was an endocrinologist whos been following me but I have not brought up my skin as I thought it was a differenet area of medicine and didnt know or think it could be related.
