I Have Just Been Prescribed Prednisone For A Sinus Infection

I have just been prescribed Prednisone for a sinus infection not cleared by antibiotic. it is 60mg for 5 days, then 40mg for 3 days, then 20mg for 3 days, then 10mg for 3 days. After reading about horrible side effects and experiences, it scares me to take this dosage. Is this a common tapered dosage to clear sinuses?
Since it is only 14 days will I experience "withdrawal"?
