I Have Just Gone To The Doctor He Says I

I have just gone to the doctor he says I have a small cyst on the bottom of my foot near the front ball of foot but n the middle - he says I need to go in the hospital to have it taken out? Why could he not just insert a needle to take out the fluid? This cyst is causing numbness in my toes and it is very uncomfortable what do you suggest?
