I Have Just Picked Up Prescription Drug Gabapentin 100mg 3

I have just picked up prescription drug Gabapentin 100mg 3 times daily. I have a mild (if there is such a thing) of Shingles in left side scalp above and back of ear. This started 5/8/18. I thought it was wasps stings.
I am not a 'pill' taker!!!!!
I am concerned about the long list of deadly side effects.
Would it be better to stick to aspirin and/or Advil, if rather than risk all these side effects? I'm not liking what I read.
