I Have Knee Pain That Came On Gradually Over A

I have knee pain that came on gradually over a period of time. Some days aching other days pain free. After 2 months I walked with a limp and sharp medial pain. An MRI showed normal knee but the pain is worse. Dr now thinks it is referred pain from my hip. I have a little bit of groin pain but only if I move certain ways. I have had bone xrays which are ok and blood tests for arthritis are ok too. Dr now suggested I have a labral tear in the hip. I dont understand why I have such little hip pain but severe/unable to walk knee pain?
