I Have Large Thyroid Nodules Which Were Discovered By Accident.

I have large thyroid nodules which were discovered by accident. Three Fine-needle aspirations show no cancer. I am not aware of any systems of a thyroid problem. Blood tests show thyroid activity in the normal range. The Dr. recommends removal of the thyroid. Is this reasonable?
