I Have Metal Braces. I Was Eating Cut Apples Casually

I have metal braces. I was eating cut apples casually when I noticed that the wire of the top left end bracket was loose and not in its hole. Freaked out, I rashly took out three elastic ligatures to accommodate the wire and put back in the wire. The elastic ligatures were put on after. Should I have not done any of that? Would you, if you were my orthodontist, fine me for doing so?
