I Have Never Experienced Vertigo And Suddenly Night Before Last

I have never experienced vertigo and suddenly night before last I became suddenly dizzy for no apparent reason. I had cooked dinner and sat down to eat. While seated, I became very dizzy and when I stood, I felt off-balance. Yesterday I felt fine with slight dizziness last night. Today, I woke feeling dizzy and it comes and goes today. What can cause this and what can I do to remedy the situation?
