I Have Never Had A Nose Bleed In My Life.

I have never had a nose bleed in my life. I am a 62 yr old female. About 3 hours ago while getting ready for bed my left nostril felt like it was going to drip. It was a massive gush of of bright red blood. I have never experienced this before. The blood gushed and splattered on me, my floor, and the wall next to the toilet, once I made it there. My husband came and checked on me, I sent him on to bed thinking this would be over soon. It is going on 3 hours of bleeding, HUGE blood clots, the right nostril started bleeding about an hour ago. I have been pinching my nose together, changing tissues/packing as needed, but in the past 20 minutes my left eye is burning and quite a bit of facial pain. My question... should I continue what I've been doing or should I wake my husband and go to the emergency room for evaluation. Thank You.
