I Have Numbness On The Left Side Of My Face

I have numbness on the left side of my face that I feel when I try to eat something like I got novocaine at the dentist. I've been having pain in my hip area recently that reminds me of a sciatic problem I had years ago but not as much pain. Could these be related or does it sound like something different?
