I Have Open Heart Surgery Before 14 Years Back(2002)I Am

I have open heart surgery before 14 years back(2002)I am having high LDL cholesterol - 126, doctor prescribed him the below medicines for a course of 2 months. What is the purpose of these tablets , any side effects there? Also if we started to take once these course do we need to continue it for life long?? Medicines are Night After food:NOVASTAT CV 10mg, METOLAR XR 50 mg & Morning After Food: OLSAR 20 mg. Please let me know as soon as possible.
