I Have Pain In My Right Leg Along The Length

I have pain in my right leg along the length of the outside thigh from hip to knee when I walk up the stairs or when I do squats. The leg feels weak and unable to support my weight, if I was to stand on that leg and attempt to sit. If I push on my leg along the perennial nerve it helps with the pain. I am over weight and I am active, I walk and I do take zumba dance classes. I had an MRI a year ago and I was told that there were small tears in the hip but nothing significant. I am 54 years old and even though I am overweight I have always been active.
