"I Have Pain On The Outside Of My Lower Leg

"I have pain on the outside of my lower leg and bumps on my shins extreme pain but was told it was not shin splits. The pain stays with me all day and night unless I take a anti-inflammation medicine. It doesn't go away I even rest months it still is there. Please help me know what is wrong with my legs
