I Have Recently Been Diagnosed With Very High Blood Pressure.

I have recently been diagnosed with very high blood pressure. I was on atenolol 50 mg every morning and spirinolactone 25 mg every morning as well for many many years for pre hypertension . I had no side effects at all.now a cardiologist has tried me nefederine along with the atenolol and it gave me horrible headaches. Then he tried me on atenolol with clonidine. again with horrible headaches. He also said that atenolol is a veryy old drug and does not want to put me back on atenolol because he said it will not control my high blood pressure.
Nowi am on on Bystoliic 20 mg a day and still have horrible headaches at the same time every day( between 5 and 6 pm that is not relieved by Tylenol Or ice or heat on my head. I am at my whits end! The headaches are not small , they are really bad. Is there any high blood pressure meds you can recommend so I.can tell my dr about it, that does not cause horrible headaches? Also I do not know if theBystolic is working to get my blood pressure own bec I will not see my cardiologist until Monfay. I have a machine that shows that my blood pressure is almost down to normal( but it has not been checked by my doctor yet to see if it is calibrated correctly) these headaches are really bad. Does ones body get used to high blood measure meds. Will the headaches go away eventually? Help and thank you! Debbie
