I Have Recently Had Fusion Of The Right First MTP

I have recently had fusion of the right first MTP joint (18 days ago) and I am experiencing severe nerve pain (flashes of heat/pain) running along the wound to the tip of my big toe. The wound is healing, what is this weird nerve like pain? and will it get better soon?
