I Have Severe Back Pain And Used To Take Codeine

I have severe back pain and used to take codeine with paracetamol but I now take bisoprolol fumarate which does not mix with codeine - how long would you need to wait to take codeine after taking a bisoprolol tablet? Or is there a stronger painkiller than paracetamol which would not react with bisoprolol?
