I Have Sharp Pain In My Lower Right Back. It

I have sharp pain in my lower right back. It comes and goes almost rhythmically. It is a stabbing pain. It covers the area of my back just below the waist (on right side) to just above the waist. This began rather suddenly this evening. Nothing seems to alleviate the pain.
