I Have Slight Pigmentation On My Cheeks And A Line

I have slight pigmentation on my cheeks and a line on nose, I was advised by a dermatologist to use tri o pac cream, will this help me out or will it become worst. Earlier too I had used some cream with the advise of dermatologist on applying for two days, I started getting boils and it burnt the skin, it became reddish and after few days all those places became more darker. Please advise.
