I Have Some Dark Red To Purple, Itchy Patches On

I have some dark red to purple, itchy patches on my wrist that started as little bumps, sort of like a bug bite, but have spread into large round areas that look like burns on my skin. They are not sore but do itch and feel a little hot. What could it be?
