I Have Some Tenderness On The Lower Left Side Of

I have some tenderness on the lower left side of my stomach, near by belly button. I do have a protruding belly button from a hernia from 16 years ago, when giving birth to my child. It was never causing pain or tenderness at all, so my GYN told me not to worry about it. Could this new soreness be from the hernia? Although the slight pain is near the belly button, it is not really close to it.
