I Have These Episodes Every Few Months Where My Cheeks

I have these episodes every few months where my cheeks begin to feel raw with and then my tongue feels raw and my voice becomes hoarse. My tongue ends up becoming so inflamed and raw that can't eat and barely drink for 7-10 days. In the end all of my taste buds fall off and then I'm good for a few more months. Initially I was treated for thrush which didn't work, then I was traveling for work and ended up in the ER where an NP said it wasn't thrush but an auto immune disorder and put me on steroids which helped almost overnight. I returned home, saw my Pcp and was referred to an oral surgeon. Who referred me back to my Pcp. I have pictures. Any ideas?
