Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have this white ulcer on the back of my tongue on the soft palate for a week now. It started small but grew bigger. Due to its location it only hurts when I talk (tongue rubs on it), or when I eat sour/spicy/hot food, otherwise if I don’t talk it doesn’t hurt. I’ve tried mild salt water gargles but it doesn’t seem to help much. So two days ago I decided to put some Manuka Honey on it using a cotton bud, the moment the honey touches the ulcer it stings a lot, and then I noticed that small red dots starts appearing at the surface of the ulcer, and blood is starting to seep out from those red dots! It only happens after I put honey on it, and the bleeding stops after I swallowed all the honey down. Here’s a picture of the ulcer before I put the honey: https://ibb.co/enMQay And here’s a picture of the ulcer after I put on the honey: https://ibb.co/fWk7oJ Also the ulcer seemed much more white in color after the bleeding stops. I’ve read online that honey was suppose to heal mouth ulcers? Why does it makes mine bleed?
