I Have To Get My Ears Irrigated About Once A

I have to get my ears irrigated about once a month because the wax builds up and does not come out. I saw a little device at the drug store that was a small pick with a loop on the end that was said to be good at removing impacted wax. I tried it to no avail. I then irrigated my own ear with a bulb that sprays water and it worked well. Wax came out and my hearing was back to normal. Then I woke up today and my ear hurts (moderately) inside and feel really hot and swollen. I think I may have caused a scrape to the ear cananl when i was trying to use the pick. But I am not sure. No blood or discharge of any kind.
