I Have Used Tampons A Few Times Before, But I

I have used tampons a few times before, but I hate using them because they sting when I take them out. I've been told it's because it wasn't full or too big but I used a regular and it leaked because it was too full. I am a virgin and was wondering if it could be related to my hymen. I have trouble getting the tampon passed it so I was wondering if that could be the problem.
