I Have Uterine Fibroid's And I Smoke. I've Already Seen

I have uterine fibroid's and I smoke. I've already seen a GYN and he suggest I quit smoking before considering surgery to do a partial/complete hysterectomy. Is there a reason why I should quit smoking before having this procedure done, other than other health issues?
