I Have Very Little Cartilage Left In My Left Knee.

I have very little cartilage left in my left knee. It is sore when I walk up or down stairs and even just walking sometimes, will a cortisone shot help the pain and how long will it last and how many shots could I get before it will do damage to my knee.
