I Have What I Believe To Be A Large Skin

I have what I believe to be a large skin tag on my thigh. It developed when exercising on the bike. It has been as large as a small grape...I twisted dental flosss around the root a few days ago, it shrunk the size, but now it is sensitive and sore. Will it fall off, can I just cut it with a clean knife or something.
