I Have What I Think Is A Boil/abscess In My

I have what I think is a boil/abscess in my armpit. It is red, painful with a white "head" and about the size of a quarter. Is this something that will resolve itself or is this something I should see a doctor for? Would an urgent care facility help or is the ER the place I should go?
