I Hear A Slight Crackling Sound In My Right Ear.

I hear a slight crackling sound in my right ear. It's been happening for the last several days and is getting a bit louder and more frequent with each passing day. What might it be? Is it something I could possibly treat myself or is it worth seeing a doctor?
