I Hit My Little Toe Very Hard Into A Chair

I hit my little toe very hard into a chair tonight. It is very sore and a bit black and blue now-two hours later. I can move it a bit, but as the time passed the soreness got worse. Can I just tape it to the toe next to it so it doesn't move? Will it heal on its own? Thanks.
