Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I just left the ER with my 21 yr grandson who was dx with biliary cholic. he is gay and his bloodwork was normal except for elevated AST and ALT levels. the ER md asked if he was a drinker ( he rarely has any alcohol ). he has been told in the past he has gall bladder disease. the US performed in the ER showed no stones or slough. he is advised to contact a surgeon and have a HIDA scan to further investigate his elevated lipid levels. I am concerned we may be looking at Hepatitis of some sort. can you give me some reassurance in this matter.
