I Just Made Peppermint Bark And Used A Plastic Like

I just made peppermint bark and used a plastic like spatula to stir the melted chocolate and when I removed it I saw that the tip of it was vent and my chocolate smells slightly chemicaly, am I ok to eat this and serve it to my family? I heard plastic can be cancer causing when melted
