I Know I Should Ask A Vet This Question But

I know I should ask a vet this question but I had to put my dog down at the vet and he warned that he might still move suddenly after his heart stopped however he did not say that he would bleed from the mouth. Was this possibly due to cancer? My yorkie terrier was battling to breath.
