I Need Immediate Help!!!! We Know My 90 Year Old
I need immediate help!!!! We know my 90 year old Mom is with full blown withdrawal from being over medicated by the cleveland clinic on 4 anti-depressants and 2 anxiety medications all at the same time.
She was cold turkied off all anti-depressentans by the main campus in June, I have communicated with two physicians on line already. Both gave me good information. We have an appt. with a Geratric Physciatist but not until the 26th of Jan. She is terrified to go into the hospital. Right now she has all of the symptoms of someone in full blown withdrawal. She does not want us to call the rescue squad. I am medical POA, as long as she will be able to say name, address, date and her birthdate, the will not transport her. The doctor at the Cleveland Clinic is who is responsible for putting her on all of these medications and they have taken her off totally improperly. I have spent hours researching this. Geratric medications and elder abuse. I can research until the cows come home. I don't know what to do for my Mom. She is suffering horribly. The Internal Primary Physician is the one that had her on all six of these medications at one time. June while hospitalized for high blood pressure, it was recognized that she was over medicated. It notated in her Cleveland Clinic MyChart that Polyparmacy was diagnosed at that time and they had removed her from the four anti-depressants. Klonopin was discontinued to quickly after years of my Mom being on it also by her physician and my Dad. Researching this I know now that was done too quickly and not appropriate at all. The last thing she is on is the Zanax. The same physician too her from .25mg 3X a day to .50mg 5X a day.
My Mom herself knew after all she had been through at this time she was being given too much. She was put into the hospital for low sodium. Then put on valium for 6 days to wearn her off the Xanax, again, done totally incorrectly and she is extremely ill and has been truly since June.
We won't go to the Cleveland Clinic emergency room because of the way this has all been done to begin with. I don't know as her daughter what to do. I am with her right now. She had my Dad call me, she was frantic, crying, short of breath, chest pains. She has practically every symptom of someone in full blown withdrawal. She fears going to another hospital because she has been a patient at the Clinic for over 50 years. She has taken three nitro for chestpains throughout the day. The last one was about 40 minutes ago when I got here. There was a Zanax prescription filled before she was in the hospital. We had that filled and she is taking .25 three times a day. She is so afraid to take anymore until she gets into the Geratric doctor, but she is also suffering horribly. I also fear is going to dehydrate, because she is so sick, she can't eat. She drinks Boost and now that is not something she is doing. I have gotten her Pedialyte and she has had two full bottles of that today. Nothing else. Please help guide me. I don't know what to do. My Mom is suffering horribly and all I can do is sit by and watch. Do you have any suggestions. If refuses the squad, that means I just get to watch my Mom be in this withdrawal caused by the Cleveland Clinic to begin with. There is no trust for the medical system for her. She had Elder Abuse by defination by a nurse in ICU in a Cleveland Clinic hospital two months ago. I am desperate.
