I Picked A Bump On My Arm, I Got Some

I picked a bump on my arm, I got some blood on my fingers and it smells like onions...I was also on my period about a week ago an I seemed to have been having the same problem. Idk if my blood smelling like onions is a bad thing or not.Why does it smell like that?
