I Quit Taking Atorvastatin After My Sister Ended Up In

I quit taking atorvastatin after my sister ended up in the hospital for 3 days with muscle pain, dementia for a better word and liver enzymes out of whack. I stopped mine and within a week, most pain that was attributed to spinal stenosis, which is diagnosed, was gone and I had more energy than I had had in years. My doctor now wants me to take Crestor which I understand is a statin. What is going to prevent the same thing happening to me again?
