I rear-ended a truck 3 years ago. I have almost constant right foot, ankle, and knee swelling (looking like slight bursitis. I also have pain and swelling after only short periods of walking.
I was in a boot for a few weeks, as it was considered some sort of foot/ankle sprain. I am also having pain up the outside of my shin, the large muscle of the thigh and into the inner back side of my thigh, hip joint, and buttox. The buttox and inner thigh muscle pain extends up into my pelvis, front and back.
The foot swells on both sides of the ankle, as well as over the top of the foot and the big toe.
I've gone in and out of the boot every 3-6 months for a day or two or up to 2 weeks, using ice, soaking in epsom salt, rubbing my leg and rear muscles regularly, etc. The pain is just not residing.
Another problem is that I have "loose ligaments" that have cause me to have bunion surgery at the age of 20 and a morton's neuroma removed at the same time, a lateral release due to condromalacia of the knee when I was 14, and I had many cortisone injections in my hip. I also have spondylolisthesis with sciatica that is mostly on the left - never really had it on the right before.
So, with all of that, I do still believe that slamming my feet with mostly my toes on the brakes, then slamming into the truck injured foot and ankle. My large toe pain is similar to what I had before the bunions were fixed and the ankle pain wrapping around from the big toe to the outside of the ankle and stopping at the lower ankle on the inside seems to be key. I just don't have any idea what common injuries of this nature are. Thanks so much!
